Residents at Abeka, a suburb in the Greater Accra region, were forced to shut their businesses and stay indoors following violent clashes there Tuesday.
Several properties including a church were also vandalised by the rampaging youth who had stormed the area to avenge the death of one of their colleagues who was stabbed and kiiled.
Eyewitnesses told Joy News’ Maxwell Agbagba that a fight broke out between the youth on Monday night and a member of one of the groups was stabbed in the disturbances.
He was rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment but he died.
According to the reporter, at least three motorcycles have also been burnt.
He said security in the area has been beefed up with police officers patrolling the area to ensure peace and also to arrest those behind the disturbance.
