Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko defied all odds to beat stubborn Heart of Lions 2-1 away on Wednesday afternoon to move to the top of the Glo Premier League table.
Kofi Nti Boakye put the determined Porcupine Warriors ahead in the 25th minute but Lions canceled Kotoko’s lead before in the 32nd minute. The first half thus ended 1-1.
The fabulous lads, with their strong resolve to clinch a win at Kpando, preserved and their efforts were greatly rewarded in the 92nd minute, when Seidu Bancey grabbed the much sought after second goal to tame the roaring Lions.
With Berekum Chelsea drawing 1-1 against Berekum Arsenal at Dormaa on the same afternoon, Kotoko therefore closed the two-point gap between them and Chelsea. The two teams are now on 50 points but the Porcupines are first on the table on account of superior goal difference.
While Kotoko have a healthy 15 goal-tally, Berekum Chelsea have a paltry seven.
The Porcupines’ next game will be against Ashantigold on June 9. Berekum Chelsea will host regional rivals Aduana Stars on the same day at the Golden City Park.
