Jose Mourinho received a mixed reception from supporters at the Santiago Bernabeu as he took charge of his last Real Madrid game as head coach.
The Special One saw his side defeat Osasuna 4-2 in an entertaining encounter to finish the Liga campaign in second place on 85 points from their 38 matches.
In an eventful afternoon for Mourinho, the match had to be briefly halted due to commotion on the touchline just a minute in.
Having initially delayed his entrance from the tunnel until right on kick-off, photographers crowded the Madrid boss in his technical area as stadium security staff and the fourth official struggled to force them away.
Midway through the first half, the club’s ultras behind one of the goals broke out in a strong chant of the coach’s name, but were met by loud whistles from other areas of the stadium in attempts to drown them out.
Michael Essien ran over to the dugout to share a moment of celebration with his manager after heading home the second goal of the match on 38 minutes.
In the second half, pockets of the home support began another pro-Mourinho chant which was again met by whistles.
The Portuguese coach spent most of the match in the dugout and showed little emotion after any of the goals were scored.
When he did venture out into his technical area in the closing stages, the ultras unveiled two large banners reading “Mourinho, thanks for fighting through hell and high water” - which was again greeted with a mixture of applause and whistles.
At full-time, Mourinho waved and acknowledged the vocal ultras behind the goal who had been offering their support and briskly made his way to the tunnel as the players remained on the pitch to acknowledge the fans’ attendance over the course of the campaign.
