It is three days to the big day to Michael Essien’s charity Game of Hope at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The expectation of potential visitors to the venue on Saturday June 8, will be great as an array of soccer stars from all parts of the world will grace the pitch.
The Bisson himself will breeze into town on Friday June 7 in a roll over effect from the goal he scored in his last game for Real Madrid at the weekend.
The Game of Hope is expected to draw a massive crowd of fans who are craving for the experience of seeing the football stars they only watch on television.
The Michael Essien Foundation is spearheading the organisation of the game and has Akosua Puni-Essien leading its efforts.
She told JOY Sports her team is “excited about the euphoria ahead of the big day. A lot of people I have spoken to are also excited. The city is buzzing because Michael and his friends are coming.”
The former Miss Ghana finalist claimed “Essien has invited about a hundred players but only forty have confirmed at the moment. I’m talking about some of the world’s ex and current players like Michael Ballack, Gibril Cisse, Florent Malouda, Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor.”
She adds “Michael and most of the players arrive in Ghana on Friday the 6th of June via a chartered flight.” An Africa XI side will do battle with a World XI team in the Game of Hope.
Last year’s edition saw Africa XI losing 4-2 to the World XI which was coached by former France international Marcel Desailly.
Michael Essien, a peace ambassador for the African Union is using football to propagate the message of peace throughout Africa.
