Ghana arrived in Sudan early on Thursday morning ahead of Friday's 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Nile Crocodiles.The Black Stars team were met on arrival by Ghana's ambassador to Egypt His Excellency Said Sinare, who has oversight responsibility for Sudan.The delegation led by Youth and Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi were briefed by H.E. Sinare about the plans for the match.Some Sudanese FA officials were also at the airport to meet the Black Stars and ensure their smooth and safe arrival ahead of Friday's game.Coach Kwesi Appiah's 24-man squad arrived in Sudan from Ethiopia where they set up camp ahead of two crucial World Cup qualifiers over the next ten days.Despite arriving in the wee hours of the morning, some Ghanaians living in Sudan waited to greet their players at the airport in Khartoum.The players and officials headed straight to the team's hotel in Khartoum to rest.The Black Stars have been training in Addis Ababa since last week.
Ghana play Sudan in a Group D qualifier on Friday for a place in the third round stage of qualifying for the World Cup finals in Brazil next year.The Black Stars, chasing a third consecutive appearance at the World Cup are just one point adrift leaders, Zambia on the log with the side that finishes top, advancing to next round
