Cal Bank is predicting a marginal reduction in the interest rates by the end of the year.
The average lending rates by banks in the country currently stands at 25 to 26 percent.
If the prediction comes to pass bank customers could be paying less for their loans from commercial banks.
Executive Director in charge of Finance at Cal Bank Philip Owiredu spoke to Joy Business at the launch of the Cal Bank’s retail promotion.
"If you look at what is happening on the Treasury bill market, the rates are trending upwards but rather marginally. If there is government’s fiscal programme improves, then we hope that these rates would start trending downwards. We don’t expect to see a significant decrease by the end of the year but at least we should start seeing some downward trend by the end of the year.” he said
