Former Ghana FA chief Dr Nyaho Tamakloe doubts Michael Essien’s Ghana commitment as the Chelsea ace continues to delay his return to the Black Stars.Essien, who enjoyed a successful season-long loan deal at Real Madrid, has been diplomatic about when he will rejoin his international teammates. There were high expectations he was going to confirm his return after last Saturday’s charity match organized by his foundation in Accra but he disappointed. His last appearance for the senior national team dates back to 2011 when he played in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo in Kumasi.Tamakloe, renowned for his abrasive administrative style as chairman of Hearts of Oak in the late 1980s, believes is not loyal to the Black Stars.“There are players who are not committed to the national team and Essien is one classic example of such players,” Dr. Tamakloe told the state-owned Graphic Sports.“I see Essien’s problem as a psychological complex that makes him feel comfortable when he plays among whites, but operates with suspicion when he is among blacks, and that explains why he performs very well in Europe than in Africa, even though there were times that he had played well for the Blacks Stars, but generally he has never shown the will to die for the country.”“Essien decided to quit the Black Stars and has sat back to see the team make progress and wants to join when it appears some progress has been made in terms of qualification for the World Cup.”
