The finals of the 2013 MTN FA Cup between Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC at the Accra Sports Stadium has been officially set to take place on Sunday, July 14, 2013, footy-Ghana.com can exclusively reveal.
The new date was reached at following a successful meeting between the FA Cup Committee and the Ghana Football Association after title sponsors MTN asked for a postponement of the finals due to the fact that they were not logistically prepared for the initially set June 15 date.
June 30 was initially suggested but had to be ruled out because of the President’s Cup which starts on June 29 and runs through to the finals on Monday, July 1. The local Black Stars will also be away in a CHAN qualifier in Benin the following weekend (July 7).
After a careful study of the football calendar, July 14 has been deemed the most suitable date for the 2013 edition of the FA Cup finals.
The winner of the 2013 MTN FA Cup takes home GH¢30,000 as prize money together with 35 gold medals while the runners-up pick GH¢15,000 cash as well as same number for silver medals.
