The UK government is providing technical support to transform Accra into an International Financial Hub.
This is Britain’s way of helping Ghana leverage its democratic credentials as well as its stable political and economic environments.
Speaking to journalists at the Flagstaff House Tuesday, June 18, 2013, Deputy Information Minister Felix Ofosu Kwakye said this is one of the many positive results Ghana stands reaping from President John Mahama’s recent trip to the United Kingdom.
President John Mahama on Monday arrived home from the United Kingdom UK where he participated in the G8 Summit.
While in the UK, President Mahama and the British Prime Minister David Cameron held bilateral talks, during which Mr Cameron commended Ghana for her economic growth and democratic credentials.
For his part, President Mahama said Ghana was in a transit from a lower middle-income country to a full middle-income status, and the country needed stronger partnership in her movement to a full middle-income status.
At G8 Summit plenary session in London, last Saturday, President Mahama gave an assurance that his administration was implementing measures to prevent financial leakages in the oil and gas and the general extractive industry.
President Mahama also addressed the Ghanaian community in London, where he gave the assurance that the Government of Ghana would continue to pursue measures that would enhance the socio-economic development of the country.
