Alliance for Accountability in Asante Kotoko has expressed delight with the resignation of club chairman Dr KK Sarpong.
A confidant of Dr Sarpong confirmed his exit as Executive Chairman of the club, but is yet to submit his resignation letter to the owner of the club the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It is reported that the former Oil Refinery boss decided to end his three year stint with club last Friday with reasons unknown.
But Alliance for Accountability in Asante Kotoko, who has consistently criticized Sarpong's style of administration, is happy with Dr Sarpong’s decision to quit.
"Kotoko did not become Africa club of the century by selling our best players out and if our players are going to TP Mazembe, Sundowns and Super Sports then it means we are coming down as a club," said David Siribuo Boateng, leader of the Alliance for Accountability in Asante Kotoko.
"So for the Alliance for Accountability in Asante Kotoko, all that we are saying is simple, Kotoko is not an academy, when Kotoko was Kotoko where was the clubs that we are now selling our best players to.
"Dr Sarpong is gradually turning Kotoko into an academy and if truly he wants to leave the club then for us is in the right direction."
