The transfer saga of former Kumasi Asante Kotoko Striker Ben Acheampong to Angolan side Petro Athletico has been cleared. Joy Sports investigations have revealed the Former Wa All Stars player was indeed sold for US$ 150, 000 after signing a three year deal. After investigations into the transfer issue following the Ghana Football Association President Kwasi Nyantakyi's accusations that resigned CEO of Kotoko Dr K K Sarpong under-declared the transfer fee for the striker. Kumasi Asante Kotoko signed a transfer agreement with Petro Luanda of Angola on the 29th of November, 2012. The total transfer sum was one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars which was subsequently transferred into the accounts of the club at Fidelity Bank, Ahodwo Branch in Kumasi on 3rd December 2012. Kotoko also signed a cooperation agreement with Petro Luanda in which Kotoko offered the Angolan club, among other things, the rights on players from its youth academy in exchange for the sum of one hundred thousand US dollars (US$100,000) which was also paid into clubs dollar account at Fidelity Bank Ahodwo branch on 3rd December 2012. The sum of US$100,000 in respect of the Cooperation Agreement was paid to Kotoko from which a commission of 15% amounting to US$15,000 was paid to the agents. However, documents sighted by Joy sports confirmed that the transfer fee from Petro Athletico for Ben Acheampong was $150,000 with a co-operation fee of $100,000 between the two clubs and not the purported $250,000 reported for the transfer of the player. The distribution of the transfer sum generated controversy as Nyantakyi owner of Wa All Stars claimed that they are entitled to a share of the sum accruing from the Cooperation Agreement as well. The cooperation agreement insists that Kumasi Asante Kotoko ensure the unveiling of a plaque acknowledging the contribution of Petro Athletico to the construction of the building completion. Asante Kotoko’s position at the time was that the cooperation agreement which was documented had no link with the transfer of the player and Wa All Stars can test the legality of Kotoko’s position if they so wish, through the Player Status Committee of either the GFA or FIFA. The distribution of the transfer sum of US$150,000 for Ben Acheampong was as follows: GFA Commission: US$12,750 Agency: US$22,500 Former Club(Wa All Stars) US$45,900 Kotoko: US$68, 850 Total: US$150,000 Defender Yaw Frimpong was sold to TP Mazembe of Congo Democratic Republic on 17th October, 2012 for a sum of one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars. The distribution of the transfer sum of US$150,000 for Yaw Frimpong was as follows: Solidarity Mechanism: US$7,500 GFA Commisssion: US$15,000 Agency: No Agent Former Club(Feyenoord) US$39,620 Kotoko: US$87,880 Total: US$150,000 Midfielder Daniel Nii Agyei was also sold to TP Mazembe of Congo DR on 17th October, 2012 for a sum of one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars (US$150,000) The distribution of the transfer sum of US$150,000 for Daniel Nii Agyei was as follows: Solidarity Mechanism: US$7,500 GFA Commission: US$15,000 Agency: No agent Former Club (Noorchip) US$49,400 Kotoko: US$78,100 Total: US$150,000 Kumasi Asante Kotoko after closing the transfer of the two players with TP Mazembe took advantage of its business relationship with the Congolese giants to sell the idea of the youth development program to them and solicit for funds for the construction of a youth hostel as they had previously done with Petro Athletico which was successful. This led to the signing of a Cooperation Agreement in which TP Mazembe paid Kotoko one hundred thousand US dollars which was transferred to the clubs account on 31st October 2012. So for the records the Transfer fee of Daniel Nii Agyei and Yaw Frimpong to TP Mazembe was US$ 300,000 which was paid into Kotoko’s dollar account on 1st November 2012 with a cooperation agreement fee of US$ 100,000 which for the construction of a youth hostel which was also earlier paid into the dollar account on 31st October 2012.
