Ghana defender Baba Rahman is likely to miss a soon-to-arranged friendly for the Black Stars next month after undergoing teeth surgery in Germany.
Doctors have now ruled him out of action for three weeks following the surgery, also allowing him time to rest after a hectic off season.
Rahman has been playing non-stop football since the start of the calendar year, which culminated in regular appearances for Greuther Furth and a campaign with Ghana’s Black Satellites at the FIFA Under 20 World Cup.
The defender was part of the Black Stars in the double World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho in June before playing at the U20 World Cup.
With the Black Stars scheduled to organize a friendly in mid-August, Rahman is unlikely to play as he is expected to return to action in late August.
This is a blow for coach Kwesi Appiah who is likely to rely on the left-back for September’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Zambia as defender Kissi Boateng is suspended for the tie.
Rahman’s participation in a friendly before the Zambia match could give the coach the chance to observe him to see if he could play in that position for the Black Stars.
But he will be available for the Black Stars in the match against Zambia.
