The Accra International Book Festival (AIBF) will host the Ghana Folklore Board Acting Director on its all-writers’ affair platform, ‘Catch Up!’ this Thursday.
Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante would be expected to take the audience through some projects her office is undertaking to reposition Ghana’s folklore.
In a statement Monday the AIBF Programmes Director, Charles Y. Gray said: “Ms Asante brings on board a wide experience in arts, music and dance which will benefit Ghanaian writers.”
Catch Up! is an event hosted by the Accra International Book Festival twice in a month to explore the experiences of local and international creatives.
The all-writers’ affair programme takes place on the Book Festival’s social media platforms, with over 200 active participants.
The Ag. Ghana Folklore Board director takes the stage on ‘Catch Up!’ at a time the country is preparing to host over 500,000 Africans from the Diaspora as part of the ‘Year Of Return’ event declared by the government.
Nana Adjoa Adobea Asante would share with the audience some measures the Board is employing to prevent the inappropriate use of the country’s assets.
“Our primary focus is to ensure that we as Ghanaians (owners of Ghana’s folklore) benefit from the commercial exploitation of our folklore,” she has noted.
On his part, the AIBF Programmes Director has encouraged Ghanaians to show interest in Ghana’s assets since the survival of the future generation depends on how the present generation utilises them.
“Greed and indifference towards the future of our young ones are the beginning and end of our country,” he said.
