A Takoradi Circuit Court on Tuesday fined Eric Kofi Korankye, a mason, GH¢180 for causing harm.
The accused, who pleaded guilty would go to jail for three months in hard labour in default of the fine.
He is also to pay GHC40 to the complainant, Kwame Brewu, a driver, as compensation.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kumah Mensah said the accused and the complainant, who are friends, reside at Chapel Hill in Takoradi.
He said at about 1600 hours on November 29 this year, the complainant went to a drinking bar at Chapel Hill called "Still Muumi", where he saw the accused taking in some drinks.
He said the accused asked the complainant why he was not at work and added that, "I know you do not like work".
He said this resulted in a quarrel between the two and the accused hit the complainant on the head with his drinking glass, injuring him.
Chief Inspector Mensah said the complainant reported the matter to the Police, who issued him with a medical form to attend hospital.
He said on December 3 this year, the accused was arrested and he admitted the offence in his caution statement, saying he was drunk at the time of the incident.
