Retired Class One referee, who is now a FIFA fitness instructor , Charles Narh Dowuona says he is ready to work with the Ghana Football Association to lift officiating in the country. The 43 year old Dowuona said he was impressed with officiating in the country in recent times and is prepared to lend a helping hand to the football handlers of the country if called upon. Speaking Sunday on the Score Board on Asempa FM, Mr. Dowuona also urged referees to show courage and resist the temptation of being influenced by club managers and owners in officiating games. The experienced referee appealed to fans of clubs to exercise restraint when a referee's decision does not go in their favour. He said the easiest games to officiate in Ghana are matches involving Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko even though he never had a chance to officiate any game involving the two top clubs in the country. Retired referee Dowuona who is a graduate of the University of Winneba is now a Physical Education Teacher at the St. Johns Grammer School in Achimota, since 2007. He officiated 100 premier league games between the year 2000 and 2012. His first game in the premier league game was between King Faisal and Hasacass which the latter won 1-0 on 22nd April 2000 while the last time he officiated a premier league match was November 4, 2012, when New Edubiase beat Wa All Stars by a goal to nil.
