Vodafone has presented food items and a cash donation to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman NuhuSharabutu, towards the celebration of this year’s Eid-ul- Fitr which falls on Thursday.
The items included cartons of dairy products, soft drinks, bags of rice, cooking oil and a desk phone.
Presenting the items, the Head of Product Marketing for Vodafone Business Solutions, Theo Agbeko, said the importance of Eid-ul-Fitr cannot be over-emphasised as it offers important lessons in giving and building relationships.
He said these values are important to Vodafone as a business and has driven several Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives undertaken in improving education and healthcare delivery.
"Vodafone is also committed to building relationships and we are passionate about giving our customers the best experience on our network" he emphasised.
He revealed that Vodafone will be offering fantastic discounts on roaming charges for Hajj pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia. This is to enable them stay connected to their friends and family at very little cost.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Sharubutu, thanked Vodafone for the donation.
"We have taken note of Vodafone's desire to build cordial relations with the Muslim community and we pray this beautiful relationship will grow," he said and urged the comapny to continue with its various social investment initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians.
Vodafone is also sponsoring Sallafest 2013 which will feed over 10,000 people who will converge in Nima, a suburb of Accra on Thursday. The feast will have a long table from the main road in Nima to Mamobi.
Later in the evening, there will be a concert with performances from several top local artistes including VIP, Sarkodie, R2bees among several others.
