The official beverage sponsors of the Black Stars, Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited have presented a cash support of GHS 1 million to the Senior National team as part payment of their three-year sponsorship agreement with the Ghana FA. The latest gesture is the third trench payment of the three-year sponsorship agreement worth GHS 2.8m (a little over $1.4m). The cash boost comes just days before Ghana hosts Zambia in the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi. The event which took place at the premises of the plush M-Plaza Hotel at Ridge, a suburb of Accra had the Stars in attendance together with the Technical team and some executive members of the Ghana Football Association. FA executive member George Afriyie was full of praise for the breweries giant and was confident that this donation was going to go a long way in motivating the lads get a result over the Chippolopolo of Zambia in that crucial World Cup qualifier on Friday. Head Coach Akwasi Appiah also used the opportunity to reiterate the team’s desire in making the nation proud and called on all and sundry to back the lads on Friday to make qualification to Brazil a certainty. She used the opportunity to wish the team the best of luck and urged the boys to make the nation proud.
