One-time winners, GSTS have made it to the semifinal of the ongoing National Science and Maths quiz.
The Takoradi-based school proved the mightiest of the three schools that competed in the last quarterfinal contest which took place Saturday evening.
Despite scoring only 26 points at the end of the five rounds, the giants, as they are called slew city mates, Takoradi SHS and Ashanti Region’s Obuasi SHTS.

The contest was a slow one as a lot of points didn’t flow.
Takoradi SHS who stopped the reigning first runner’s up, West Africa SHS at the one-eighth stage couldn’t produce the same performance and have bowed out of the competition.

Obuasi SHTS also kicked out a highly fancied Krobo Girls’ SHS but they like Takoradi SHS, they weren’t at their best today.
GSTS, therefore, had little job to do in dumping the underdogs. The contest ended with the scores: GSTS; 26pts – Takoradi SHS; 17pts – Obuasi SHTS; 14pts
However, GSTS face a fierce opponent at the semifinal, one-time winner, the only West African Champion, and reigning Central Regional Champions, St. Augustine’s College.
Besides the Cape Coast giants, they face one of Volta Region’s best, Keta SHTS.
If the Western Region school is to make it to the grand finale, they must bring on their A game which was missing in this contest.
