A fulani herdsman has been arrested for allegedly killing a fellow Fulani after he had stolen the victim’s cattle.
The body of the deceased, identified as Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, 60, has been sent to the Police Hospital in Accra, while the suspect, whose name has been given as Issa Abdul, is in custody at the Begoro Police Station.
According to the police, Biko had engaged Abdul to take care of his cattle for him.
At 12:30 am on September 27, Biko was said to have noticed some strange disturbances in his kraal at Dominase-Amanfrom, near Begoro in the Eastern Region, and, therefore, decided to find out what the problem was.
According to the Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Abass Abaa, Alhaji Biko found out that one of the cows was missing from the kraal.
He and another Fulani, whose name was not immediately provided, followed the footsteps of the animal along a certain path.
ACP Abaa said the two caught up with Issa Abdul with the cow, but Abdul rather turned back and shot twice at Biko, killing him instantly.
According to the Deputy Regional Police Commander, other people assisted in apprehending Abdul and sent him to the police station.
