A man believed to be in his early 30s is in the grip of the Police in the Tarkwaa-Nsuem Municipality for beheading his girlfriend’s four year old daughter.

The gruesome murder, which infuriated the townsfolk who nearly lynched the suspect, Kwame Solomon, occurred in the afternoon of Thursday, at Kyekyewere, a farming community in the Tarkwa-Nsuem Municipality.

It is not clear yet what might have compelled him to carry out such a cruel act, on the innocent girl whose name was only given as Afua.

The suspect, who is not a native of the village, reportedly visits his girlfriend occasionally in the village, and allegedly committed the act in his girlfriend’s room when she had left for the farm.

A driver who gave the tip-off leading to the arrest of the suspect spoke to Maxx News:

“I am a driver who plies from Agona-Nkwanta to Nsuem. Somebody hired me to a village called Kyekyewere. When I got to the village, I saw a gathering of people with some wailing, weeping and shouting. And more people too were rushing into a particular house. When I entered I saw that a girl of four years old had been beheaded”.

He further narrated: “Then I remembered that I had met a suspicious guy on my way to the town, who was holding a polythene bag. So I gathered some of the boys into my car and then we accosted him. When we searched the polythene bag, we saw the girl’s head in it and suddenly the boys started beating him up. They said they wanted to kill him, but luckily for him, some police and military officers who were passing by, came to his rescue.

Divisional Police commander for Tarkwa-Nsuem, ACP Paul Ayitey confirmed the story to Maxx News, and applauded residents’ for their role in the arrest. He said the suspect was being monitored by the police at the Hospital following the severe beatings he received so they can commence investigations into the bizarre murder.
