Winner of CNN/Multichoice Africa Journalist Award in the TV News category, Gifty Andoh-Appiah has said she was instantly dazed when her name was mentioned as winner in that category.
The newscaster and broadcaster at JoyNews MultiTV, beat other finalists from 11 countries to win the coveted award at a ceremony and Gala Evening in Cape Town, South Africa.
Her story “public toilets in perspective” depicts the challenges people in some Ghanaian communities go through just to visit the toilet.
Speaking to JoyNews from Cape Town, Gifty said she was swept off her feet when she heard her name mentioned as winner of the “Television News Bulletin Award”.
"It wasn't so cold but all of a sudden my legs started shaking...I felt really nervous," Gifty told her colleague Ruth Okan Adjetey.
Gifty is the third journalist from the Multimedia Group Limited to have won the prestigious CNN Africa Journalist Award since its inception, after Israel Laryea and Anny Osabutey picked similar awards in 2008 and 2012.
