The Information Service Department (ISD), in the Upper East Region has embarked on a 14 day intensive public education campaign on the 2008 budget statement.
This was contained in a press release issued and signed by, Mr Akwasi Amankwaa, Upper East Regional Information Officer on Tuesday.
It said the education campaign on the 2008 budget statement covers all the eight districts in the Region, reaching out to about 27,962 people in 511 communities.
Parts of the budget covered included the Northern Development Fund, construction of a 15 kilometres road in each district, supply of electricity to some of the communities in the Region, subsidy of BECE examination by the government and the issuance of Universal Health Insurance cards for members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
It explained that communities were sensitised on the specific projects that were supposed to be executed under the 2008 budget statement, and mentioned the rehabilitation of the Tono Irrigation Dam in Navrongo, the livestock block and the existing quarantines at Zebilla, Paga and Pusiga all in the Region.
The ISD explained to the communities that under the 2008 budget statement, the Pwalugu Tomato factory would be hooked to the national grid and 150 flats, and a modern stadium built for the Region.
