The Appeal Committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has upheld the disqualification of six candidates in its upcoming Parliamentary primaries.
A statement from the party said a total of 17 petitions were received “challenging the qualification or disqualification of aspirants in various constituencies across the country arising out of vetting of aspirants.”
Some nine candidates have, however, been cleared to contest in the primaries while the fate of two still hangs as an ad-hoc committee is expected in their respective constituencies for further investigations.

When is the NDC primaries?
The centre-left NDC goes to polls on Saturday, August 24, to elect their candidates for the 2020 Parliamentary elections.
The election is expected to take place in some 157 of 275 Constituencies across the country with their strongholds expected to receive the most heat.
Nadowli Kaleo Constituency in the Upper West Region, will for the first time since 1996, have a new face representing the NDC on the ballots.
Since the second Parliament in 1997, current Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has represented the people in Parliament.
The NDC must now find a favourable replacement for the lawmaker as he retires from the legislature after more than two decades.
Meanwhile, Former President John Mahama, the party’s Flagbearer is yet to announce his running mate for the 2020 general elections.
Mr. Mahama on Monday disputed media reports that he has settled on Ghana’s longest-serving Finance Minister, Kwesi Botchwey, as running mate.
