Ghana and Togo have begun consultations aimed at developing a document for the trans-boundary development and management of their wildlife resources and their tourism potentials.
The focus of the consultations and the final document would be on the Kyabobo National Park in the Nkwanta District and its opposite number, the Fazao-Malfakassa in Togo.
Mr Luri Kanton, the Manager of the Kyabobo National Park made this known to the Ghana News Agency on his return from one of such consultative meetings in Kpalime, Togo, attended by a six-man delegation from the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission.
Mr Kanton said the meeting focused on cross-border law enforcement, cross-border park management, tourism development and co-operation.
He said managements of the two national parks were urged to maintain regular contacts, exchange information regarding poaching and keep their communication lines open to each other.
Mr Kanton said by its location the Kyabobo National Park has been recognized as part of the larger ecosystem in West Africa.
