Government has allocated 3.3 million cedis to the National Sports Authority (NSA) as budget for the various sporting disciplines.
Finance Minister, Seth Terkper made this known when he read the 2014 budget Tuesday.
According to him, the amount, to be shared equally among the 33 associations was to facilitate their activities for the year.
He said this was part of government’s measures to ensure that the lesser known disciplines were adequately resourced to promote sports.
“This is part of measures of Government to ensure that the lesser known sports are adequately resourced.”
The component for the Ghana Football Association is expected be used for the development of juvenile football.
The Minister said the amount will expedite action on the construction of modern boxing gym at Bukom as well as the rehabilitation of the Baba Yara, Essipong and Tamale Sports Stadia.
He said preparatory works for the construction of ten Sports Senior High Schools in all the regional capitals and district sports arenas had commenced.
Terpker assured that, eight out of the 20 multi-purpose sports courts in some selected districts and educational institutions across the country will be completed next year.
