Black Stars Coach Kwasi Appiah says his ambition now is to win the 2014 World Cup after qualifying Ghana for a third successive tournament.
The former Ghana captain becomes the first Ghanaian to have qualified the Black Stars for a World Cup finals after two Serbians - Ratomir Djukovic (2006 World Cup in Germany and Milovan Rajevac ( 2010 World Cup in South Africa) - qualified Ghana.
Appiah who was an assistant to Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac at the last World Cup in South Africa 2010 where Ghana finished in the quarter finals, wants to move two steps further and win the tournament.
"Automatically every team goes into the World with the intention of winning it so once we have qualified that’s my ambition,” he told Joy Sports.
“It doesn’t matter the team we draw in the group stages, whatever group we fall in I always believe that we’ve got the capabilities and our players should be able to cope with it.
“If you're thinking of not facing Spain or Brazil then why are you going to the World Cup, you should prepare yourself to face any team that comes your way.
“You always go to the World Cup with the intention of winning it so how can you go there when you are afraid of Brazil, Spain or whatever?".
The draw for the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be held on 6 December 2013 in Brazil.
