The Black Maidens of Ghana have qualified to the FIFA Female Under 17 World Cup after defeating Equatorial Guinea 3-2 in Malabo on Saturday.
The Female U-17 team advanced to the World Cup on 5-2 aggregate over two qualifying legs.
Ghana defeated their Equatorial Guinea counterparts 2-0 in the first leg in Accra two weeks ago, and coach Evans Adottey’s girls continued their impressive run in Malabo in the second leg, and impressively won away from home.
Star striker and vice captain Jane Ayieyam grabbed a brace, with Ernestina Abambilla getting the other goal.
Ghana placed third in Azerbaijan in the last World Cup, and will be looking to impress in Costa Rica next year, when the world’s best 16 female Under 17 teams converge to fight for the ultimate.
