Popular Ghanaian boxer Brimah Kamoko, better known as Bukom Banku received a hero’s welcome upon his return to the country after winning his first international fight.
Banku was welcomed by hundreds of fans and members of the media upon his arrival at the Kotoka International Airport on Friday.
The 39-year-old won his first fight outside Ghana last Saturday against Rojhat Bilgetekin of Germany. He knocked out his opponent in round three at St George Hall in Bradford, UK.
This is my first international fight and I will want everyone to continue to pray for me to win my next fight. I didn't have any support in Britain, there were only two Ghanaians in the stands, but by God's grace, I used my sensibility to win my fight. My next fight will be next month and by God's grace I will stop my opponent in round 4 and I urge everyone to pray for me because Ghanaians love me,” Banku told the press.
The victory takes his record to 29 wins out of his 30 professional fights with his only defeat coming at the hands of Bastie Samir in October 2017.
