The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), on behalf of the Assemblyman for Ngleashi Electoral Area in the Odododiodio constituency, has apologised for an assault on JoyNew’s photojournalist, David Andoh.
In a statement signed by the Presiding Member (PM), Alfred Asiedu Adjei, the Assembly said the act was regrettable and condemnable.
Joseph Addo also known as Zola physically assaulted David Andoh at Mantse Agbona and incited residents against the Joy Clean Ghana campaign team, last week.
The Assemblyman smashed the journalist’s camera and another person slapped him from behind demanding that the team leaves the area.
He also subsequently mobilised the community against the team embarking on the campaign at the sprawling community.
James Addo immediately fled the scene on a motorbike shortly after attacking the journalist.
But the AMA says it is disappointed by the action of the Assemblyman.
“The PM wishes to render an unqualified apology to Multimedia as a group [operators of JoyNews] and to Mr Andoh in particular for this gross act of indiscipline,” it said.
