A fridge mechanic at Mataheko in Accra has appeared before the Accra Circuit Court 5 for allegedly stealing one Kinetic Service motorbike at Mataheko police barracks valued at GH¢l200, which is the property of the Ghana Police Service.
Eric Amankwah Andoh pleaded not guilty and he was remanded in prison custody to reappear at a later date.According to Chief Inspector C.A. Anim, the complainant is a policeman stationed at the police headquarters while the accused resides at Mataheko in Accra.He said on December 2, 2007, the complainant after close of work, parked the police motorbike with registration No. GP 1741 in front of his door at the Mataheko police barracks and went to bed only to discover the next morning that the bike was nowhere to be found.
The prosecutor said the complainant made a report to the police and during investigations the accused was sighted in town riding the bike with the colour changed as well as the registration number which now read GR 174 P.The accused was immediately arrested and during interrogation, he stated that the bike was sold to him by one Emmanuel who he could not assist the police to trace.Source: The Mirror
