The Rt. Reverend Dr Emmanuel Komla Gbordzoe, Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church has called on political parties to desist from raining insults on each other during the 2008 electioneering campaigns.
He said the situation where some political parties were at each others throat when they mount platforms would not augur well for the country's young democracy.
Rt. Rev. Gbordzoe made the call when addressing the annual Prayer Festival of the Accra Presbytery of the Church at Oyibi near Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region on Saturday.
He asked Christians to pray to God to give them God-fearing leaders who have the progress of the nation at heart.
The Moderator also asked Christians to champion Christianity by worshipping the Almighty God and disseminate and foster values which would promote peace and progress.
The Rev. Felix M. Agbo, Acting Presbytery Chairman, urged Christians to
exhibit the virtues of love and peace, which were the hallmark of Christianity, adding that a positive regard for the other person was a good sign of love.
He said the Church had acquired a large tract of land and would soon establish a Senior High School to supplement government's effort.
