The Okyeman caucus in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have asked the Okyeman Traditional Council to “temper justice with mercy” over comments made by the NDC Ashanti regional secretary Kwame Zu deemed insulting.
During a demonstration organised by the Coalition for National Sovereignty in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi last week, Kwame Zu said the people of Okyeman in the Eastern region were drinking from water sources used by animals but for the Mahama administration.
The comment infuriated the traditional authority while its youths have demonstrated declaring NDC functionaries are not allowed in any of its palaces until the party takes steps to appease Okyeman.
A statement signed by caucus coordinator Victor Smith said the embattled secretary was not speaking on behalf of the party.
