Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya constituency of Accra, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has advised members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to show more dedication and commitment towards the party.

She said it is only by hard work that party can achieve its target of a resounding victory in the 2016 general elections.

Speaking to party delegates on the theme "Empowering the people to victory in 2016" at the just ended national delegates' congress of the party in Charlotte, North Carolina, the MP said party members must not expect to be paid before they work for the party.

"Ghana at this time is in tatters, corruption has over crowded us and the stench is all over and nothing seems to work now as our people continue to wallop in abject poverty.

"Now the presidency has become an embodiment of corruption where manifestly, it is alleged that the president himself cannot extricate himself from  the various allegations of scandalous  corrupt practices," she told the delegates.

She further described as mind boggling, how top government officials including the majority leader, Benjamin Kunbuor, has jumped into the defense of a decision to sell Merchant Bank dubiously to equity fund manager, Fortiz.

Adwoa Safo said the only opportunity Ghanaians have is to make sure that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is kicked out in 2016 - but that she said can only be achieved if members of the NPP show extra dedication and commitment .

The first step to achieving election victory in 2016, she noted, "is to unite our front and see party matters first and make all other matters secondary".

"We need to speak in a manner that will provide hope to our sympathizers and also attract more floating voters," she said.
