Former Referee’s Appointment Committee Chairman Randy Abbey is the new owner of Premiership Club Heart of Lions, sportscrusaderonline.com can reveal.
Investigations carried out by this website can confirm that Randy Abbey, the onetime communications director of the Ghana Football Association has bought majority shares of the Kpando based Premier league Club, an action that relegates former owner and bankroller Victor Ahiakpor to a Board member and founder.
According to a source close to the Kpando based Club, Randy Abbey as part of measures to see that Lions becomes one of the forces to reckon with in the local league, will effect a couple of changes to both the technical team and administration of the Club.
In a related development, Randy Abbey has subsequently resigned from his post as the Chairman of the Referee’s Appointment Committee with immediate effect.
According to a letter at the FA chanced on by sportscrusaderonline.com, Randy Abbey thanked the FA for the opportunity given him and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Although no particular reason was given in the letter, it’s believed that Mr. Abbey does not want any conflict of interest as he would like to have enough time to steer the affairs of his new Club.
