A former Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency of the Ashanti region, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has charged social engineers in the country to engineer intervention programs that will keep the unemployed youth busy to avoid a possible emergence of any social canker.
Kofi Jumah implored the government not to rule out the survey from West Africa Network for Peace-building (WANEP), though its Executive Director has downplayed the basis.
The organisation had predicted violent demonstrations and general political instability if government fails to deal with the worsening economic conditions and public discontent over corruption. It however issued a statement Wednesday expressing profound regret for the highly controversial report that was issued by its National Network Coordinator Isaac Bayor.
But Speaking on Badwam on Adom TV, Thursday, Mr. Jumah noted that, effects of the economic hardship coupled with city authorities embarking on demolition exercises resulting in rendering hundreds of people homeless and displaced, could be a fine opportunity for political instability to emerge.
Though he disagrees with the final report of WANEP, Kofi Jumah advised that steps should be taken to avert any such possible occurrences.
He therefore charged social engineers to wake up their slumber and work assiduously on social programs which can keep the youth busy citing the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s boys scout as an example.
