Veteran rapper Obrafour has revealed what initiated his musical feud with colleague rapper Lord Kenya.

According to him, it all started when Lord Kenya stepped on his toes when he refuted his (Obrafour) claim of being a rap heavyweight champion.

He narrated that “a friend of mine who was in Lord’s camp once told me Lord had mocked me when I stated in my song ‘Yaanom’ that I was a rap heavyweight champion and that he was the real heavyweight. I went into defence upon hearing that by recording a song in response.”

According to him, they both benefited some sort of publicity and they took advantage of the hype it came with.

He recollected that his fans patronised his albums in large quantities because they expected something about him hitting at Lord Kenya and Lord’s fans vice versa.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, the rapper further revealed that “Lord and I were friends; I checked on him whenever I was in Kumasi and whenever he did same whenever he was in Accra.”

Between 2005-2007, there was a hugely publicised beef between rap legends, Obrafour and Lord Kenya (now turn pastor) over who wears the "Rap Heavyweight Champion" belt.

Lord Kenya started the prolonged beef by hitting Obrafour below the belt on some of his hit tracks such as"Enyom No", "Baby Nayoka" etc., calling his colleague “Tico” (midget).
