Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom 1V, Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area has nullified his directive that Nana Awiti Kuffour of Nwoase in Kintampo did not own the land earmarked for the new Kintampo market.
As a demonstration of his commitment to the quick and amicable resolution of disputes for the sustenance of peace and development in his area, the Omanhene on November 26 last year wrote to the Chief Registrar of the High Court in Sunyani to nullify his letter of August 27 last year titled; “Re-Rightful Owner of Land”.
Copies of the two letters have been made available to the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani.
In the August letter, addressed to the Secretary of the Statutory Planning Committee of the Kintampo District Assembly and signed by Mr. F.K.A. Nabi-Mensah, Senior Registrar of the Nkoranza Traditional Council, the Omanhene directed that Nana Kyeremankumahene of Kintampo was the sole care taker of the area in question in trust for him (Omanhene).
“To be precise, Nana Kyeremankumahene shares common boundary to the North with Yefrehene, to the West with Mohene by the old trans-Sahara root.
“To the East he shares the boundary with Dadieasehene and to the South with Nana Kokumahene at the Bamiri stream at Kintampo”, the letter stated.
The Omanhene, however, on November 26 last year wrote to the Chief Registrar of the High Court in Sunyani to nullify the August letter.
“On this 26th day of November 2007, this letter supersedes all correspondence on the above-mentioned subject”, the letter signed by the Omanhene himself said.
It was copied to the Secretary of the Statutory Planning Committee of Kintampo District Assembly, Nana Kyeremankumahene, Nana Awiti Kuffour of Nwoase – Kintampo, Nana Baffoe Kudoni, Krobohene – Kintampo and Nana Damoahene, Kintampo.
Subsequently Nana Awiti Kuffour, Kintampo-hene has withdrawn a suit he filed against the Omanhene at the High Court over the land dispute and has through Nana Nifahene of Nkoranza rendered an apology to the Omanhene who accepted it.
According to a report prepared and signed by Venerable Peter Kwadwo Sakyi of the Anglican Church in Nkoranza on the withdrawal and settlement of the dispute, Nana Awiti-Kuffour was charged to slaughter eight sheep, which he did to end all rivalry and bitterness.
“On 5th June 2007, Nana called me and told me to tell the (High) Court that all the lands belonging to the “Baffo Pim Stool” in Kintampo area, the subject matter of this dispute, are restored to caretaker stools as it was before the letter of dispute, which has been nullified”, the report added.
