Kumasi Asante Kotoko after beating Ebusua Dwarfs 2-1 on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in an outstanding First Capital Plus Premier League match, have a sovereign 10-point lead on the table.
Two goals from striker Abdul Aziz in the 17th minute and defender Smallboy Korbah, six minutes later, were exactly what the Porcupines needed to push the struggling Dwarfs deep into the relegation pit.
Kotoko therefore went 2-0 up in the first half before the Mysterious Dwarfs pulled one back through Richard Gaize in 63rd minute. Dwarfs piled pressure on Kotoko in the closing stages of the game but Kotoko’s defence remained resolute.
The Porcupine Warriors after their exit from the CAF Champions League have given clear indications of their intent to win the Premier League title to appease their disappointed supporters.
Right from their loss to Liberia’s BYC in Afrcia, Kotoko camped in Takoradi for four days ahead of their outstanding league game away to Medeama, which they won 1-0 with a goal from Amos Frimpong.
Now with a commanding ten-point lead, Kotoko must continue to winning and that could hand them their third successive title weeks before the season close. Rivals Hearts of Oak are second on the league table with 30 points while have 40 points.
