Mining Giant, AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) has issued a firm warning to job seekers against job scams across many online job portals indicating massive recruitment.
Over the past months, the mining firm plus other government institutions have been victim to fraudsters who use these companies to dupe thousands of job seekers from as little as ¢30 to a whopping ¢500 to ¢1000.
AngloGold Ashanti in a circular stated categorically that it does not demand cash payments from job seekers before employing them. Excerpts of the circular reads:
“ Some parties unrelated to the company are using names of several people who are related to the company to extort monies from the unsuspecting public under the pretext of securing jobs for them at the company”.
Checks show that these fraudsters are targeting other firms as Nestle Ghana Limited, Kempinski Hotel, the Ghana Revenue Authority, Nestle Ghana Limited, Airtel Tigo and MTN among others.
A piece of advice to job seekers out there is that all job opportunities in these companies and their subsidiaries are published on their careers page.
Also, all legitimate vacancies and employment procedures do not request payment of any fees as part of any recruitment process.
In the meantime, Anglogold Ashanti is collaborating with the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) to clamp down on these fraudsters causing heartaches to desperate and vulnerable job seekers.
