Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila believes a historic World Cup semi-final feat is attainable in Brazil come June by the Black Stars.
Sumaila who spoke to JOY Sports on Tuesday night believes the Ghana FA will not allow anything to distract the concentration level of both the coaches and the players ahead of the World Cup, so that the semi final berth will be achieved at the mundial.
“Let me start by saying I really appreciate what Coach Kwesi Appiah has done for the team so far, he has done so well that our team has been transformed and we can now say that the team has the quality to face any team anywhere in any tournament”, says Sumaila
“From what I have seen in the team, I can tell you that we have a team that will do well in the tournament and when given the necessary support we will excel at the World Cup.
Sumaila also believes he and his colleague have started exhibiting their World Cup mentalities by playing regularly at their various clubs which will go a long way in helping Ghana to do well at the World Cup despite missing out for the Montenegro friendly on March 5 but wishes his colleague the best of luck.
Sumaila last night showed his class against Pirates when Sundowns were beaten 0-1 at home in the PSL
Ghana will play Germany, Portugal and United States of America in the preliminary round of the tournament billed for in Brazil .
