The chiefs and people of Akuapem in the Eastern Region on Tuesday held a mini-durbar in Akropong, in honour of President John Mahama, at the start of the his two-day working visit to the region.
President Mahama was in the Western region two weeks ago, where he inspected a number of ongoing projects.
While in the Eastern region, the President is also expected to meet with members of the Eastern regional house of chiefs.
Joy News' Regional correspondent, Kofi Siaw reports that at a durbar held in his honour, President Mahama expressed appreciation to the chief of Akropong, Oseadeeyo Nana Addo Dankwa III and his people for their support even when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) challenged the election results.
The president therefore assured the people of Akuapim that by the end of this year, the on-going Kpong water project will be completed and the people of Akuapim will heave a sigh of relief from the water problem they have suffered over the years.
