An executive committee member of the Ghana FA George Afriyie has dismissed allegations that the management heads of the various national teams earns bigger bonuses than the playing body in major tournaments.
Recent reports in the media suggests that the seven officials who make up the Black Stars management committee will get more bonuses than the players themselves during the group stages of this year’s World Cup in Brazil.
These report claims while the players are due 15,000 dollars for winning every game each committee member gets 15,800 dollars.
But George Afriyie who doubles as an emergency committee member of the Ghana FA says those allegations are unfounded
How can this be true, this is blunted lie and I’m saying this on authourity and quote me, there has never been a time where the FA president, let me use the FA president I will not even use a management member has equally received bonuses given to players,” said George Afriyie in an interview with Joy sports
“He (GFA president) only gets honorarium and mind you sometimes when people talk about management members taking money you have to ask yourself is the general secretary a management member of the Black Stars? Is a emergency committee member like myself a management member of the Black Stars?”
“But remember if there are honorarium I enjoy it, the general secretary will enjoy it same as the communications director so if you go by your calculation of seven people sharing that money how can one person gets such an amount, this is not possible.”
