The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo says he will aggressively pursue solar energy as a sure way of meeting the energy needs of the country.
He said every home will have solar panels that will supply power for domestic purposes while energy generated from hydro plants will be used for industrial purposes.
He was speaking at an energy forum organized by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for the presidential candidates to spell out their plans for the energy sector.
Luv FM’s Sampson Laadi Ayinene reported that amidst rapturous applause the NPP flag bearer clearly articulated the plans he will put in place to ensure that adequate energy was produced in the country.
Nana Addo said he will also work assiduously towards making the Bui Dam Project a reality.
Another sector he will pay attention to according Sampson Ayinene is nuclear energy.
He sated that a committee chaired by Prof.. Adjei Bekoe was exploring the possibility of developing nuclear energy in the country.
The Abuakwa South MP said he will give the committee all the support it needs to complete it and work fully implement its recommendations in order to ensure adequate energy was produced in the country.
Earlier the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. John Mahama said the NDC will double the production capacity of the Tema Oil Refinery.
He said Ministers and other top government officials will be made to pay electricity bills to ensure effective use of energy in the country.
