A nine year old boy has incidentally shot himself with his father’s gun in a village near Kpandai in the Northern Region.
The boy was reportedly playing with the gun when he accidentally pulled the trigger killing himself in the process.
The incident occurred while the father of the child and others were working on the farm.
The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Albert Johnson
told Joy News that the issue was being investigated.
He explained that the police had a report from the assemblyman of the area
One Justice Nsada about the incident.
Following the report the 45-year-old farmer, Naguriba Bagbin Imunati was arrested for interrogation.
He said the man was working on the farm with his four children when one of them sneaked to a tree against which the gun was leaning, pressed the trigger resulting in the accident.
Inspector Johnson said Mr. Imunati probably sent the gun to the farm for hunting purposes.
