Four Ghanaian artistes have been nominated in this year's MTV Africa Music Awards scheduled to come off at the at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) on June 7, 2014.
The four - Efya, R2Bees, Sarkodie and Fuse ODG - are part of some of the continent's biggest acts who received nominations in the awards. The nominations were released at The Sands, Johannesburg, South Africa Wednesday.
Bubbly songstress Efya has been nominated in the 'Best Female' category and she will battle that category out with Arielle T (Gabon), Chidinma (Nigeria), DJ C’ndo (South Africa), and Tiwa Savage (Nigeria).
Tema-based music duo, R2Bees has been nominated in the 'Best Collaboration' category for Slow Down which features Nigerian act Wizkid.
R2Bees will face stiff competition from Amani ft Radio and Weasel – ‘Kiboko Changu’ (Kenya/Uganda), Diamond feat Davido – ‘Number One’ (Remix) (Tanzania/Nigeria), Mafikizolo feat May D – ‘Happiness’ (South Africa/Nigeria), and Uhuru feat DJ Buckz, Oskido, Professor, Yuri Da Cunha – ‘Y-tjukutja’ (South Africa/Angola), for that award.
Ghana's fastest rapper, Sarkodie will face AKA (South Africa), Ice Prince (Nigeria), Khuli Chana (South Africa), and Olamide (Nigeria) for the 'Best Hip Hop' category.
UK-based Ghanaian artiste, Fuse ODG has been nominated in the 'Best Pop' category. Also nominated in that category are, Danny K (South Africa), Goldfish (South Africa), LCNVL (South Africa), and Mathew Mole (South Africa).
Ghanaian cross-platform interactive digital comics and mobile games outfit, Leti Arts has also been nominated in the 'Transform Today by Absolut' category.
