Police at Ejisu in the Ashanti region have continued their onslaught on child pornography and other criminal activities, with the arrest last night of eight more children.
The swoop, the third in less than a month brings the number of juveniles held for child-pornography in the area to thirty.
It comes barely a week after police hinted they will prosecute ten parents for breach of the Children’s Act, after their children were picked for engaging in pornography.
Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah reported that the police acting on intelligence picked up the children aged between 12 and 15. The police seized television sets, video game machines, video cassettes and other items during the operation.
Chief Supt Kwesi Kwaakye, District Commander noted the activities of the children have now gone beyond pornography to gambling and other crimes.
According to him, it was their hope that the first and second operations would serve as a deterrent to the children and their parents.
"We are also not going to relent on our efforts," he stated.
