Dr. Emmanuel Ennin a security analyst has criticised the use of curfews in curbing the state of violence in the North, saying, it does not yield positive results.According to him, government must rather turn attention to the arms flow in the region.Speaking to Joy News on Thursday, Dr. Ennin said government must come clean on the number of people and companies licensed to own arms, since some of the arms are unfortunately, diverted into conflict areas. He called on government to establish an Independent Advisory board with the requisite knowledge, to compliment efforts by the Peace Council.Whilst advocating for the need to depoliticize the conflicts in the North, Dr. Ennin, also called on government to use the stringent aspect of the criminal code in dealing with suspects of the violence.Citing the specific arrest by the Northern Regional Security Command of the 17 suspects in the recent escalation in the North, Dr. Ennin said they must be dealt with severely under the law to deter others from engaging in such acts.Joy News
