The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has organised a day's workshop on the Procurement Law for its members in the Ashanti Region in Kumasi.
The workshop aimed at keeping members abreast with the law and its implementation and how they can make use of it to benefit their companies.
It will also encourage members of the association, who had had experiences in the implementation of the law, to share experiences and challenges they encountered to enable the association to make submissions for possible review or otherwise.
Victor Nortey, a procurement specialist, said to achieve the objectives of the law, there was the need for those who used it to apply fairness and transparency as indicated in the law.
He stressed the need for efficient procurement units in all ministries, agencies and departments to ensure that everything was done according to the law.
Cletus Kosiba, Acting Executive Director of AGI, said the workshop would not only keep members abreast with the dictates of the law but would also offer a platform for members to share their experiences and challenges in the implementation of the law and address grey areas which might affect the interest of members.
