A Circuit Court at Akyem Swedru has convicted three unemployed youth to 12 months’ imprisonment each for stealing a bicycle belonging to a Junior Secondary School (JSS) student.
Two of them, Kofi Owusu, 19, and Kwame Owusu, 18, were convicted on their own plea to conspiracy to steal, unlawful entry and stealing, while the third, Yaw Romeo, 18, who is at large, was convicted in absentia.
Police Chief Inspector Alice Appiakorang, prosecuting, told the court, presided over by Edward Kwame Bosompem Apenkwah, that on October 28, the complainant, a student living in Swedru woke up only to realise that his bicycle, value at 350,000 cedis, which he parked in the kitchen the previous night, was missing.
He lodged a report to the police, leading to the arrest of the two convicts together with the bicycle.
Chief Inspector Appiakorang said the two admitted stealing the bike in the company of Romeo who had bolted.
