Vodafone has appointed Agnes Emefa Essah as its new Chief Marketing Officer, effective 2nd July, 2014. She replaces Uche Ofodile.
In her new role, Agnes will be responsible for the delivery of innovative products and exciting campaigns that will enhance Vodafone’s brand value and increase its market share.
Before joining Vodafone, Agnes was the Marketing and Innovation Director at Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, a subsidiary of Diageo Plc, where she was responsible for business strategy, innovation and brand building. Under her leadership, Guinness Ghana introduced a number of exciting campaigns and pioneering products. Agnes also held various leadership positions in Ghana, the United Kingdom and Namibia, while with Diageo and was a member of the Board of Directors of Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd.
Commenting on her appointment, the Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Ghana, Haris Broumidis said: “Agnes brings an impressive depth of marketing experience and we are pleased to have her join us. Her invaluable skills will be beneficial to Vodafone as we continue to lead innovation in the industry and provide Ghanaians with the best telecommunications products and service.”
Over the last two decades, Agnes has managed top brands including Guinness, Malta Guinness, Alvaro, Premium Spirits including Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Ciroc, as well as , Smirnoff Ice, Heineken, and Mobitel, now Tigo. She has a management style that produced an outstanding achievement in the field of marketing and innovation.
Agnes was awarded ‘Marketing Practitioner of the year 2012’ by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) for her marketing excellence and leadership. The new Vodafone CMO, holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana.
